Description
Job Description:
- A Building Automation Engineer, also known as HVAC Controls Tech, Project Engineer, or Controls Engineer, works directly on the Maintenance team to ensure the proper function of complex building automation systems. The role involves executing Work Orders, preventive Maintenance tasks, ordering components, and coordinating with technicians and subcontractors on site.
- Leads, directs, and teaches BAS system operators, providing solutions to system problems, troubleshooting, and advising others on resolving issues.
- Diagnoses and repairs routine electronic control system malfunctions.
- Manages assigned work to meet standards of professionalism, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.
- Reports problems or changes to management immediately.
- Troubleshoots software coding issues and implements necessary enhancements for reliable system operations.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and services on machinery and systems.
- Calibrates machine controls for optimal performance and safety.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Identifies causes of unexpected machine breakdowns.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed, such as PMs and WOs.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance.
- Collaborates with project managers on new product additions and modifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Willing to work third shift.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
- Proven electro-mechanical aptitude based on experience and/or education, with PC/software skills.
- Familiarity with Johnson Controls Metasys, Schneider Electric Controls, or equivalent platforms, including control programming and graphics.
- Understanding of communication protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
- Knowledge of energy management systems, HVAC, temperature controls, and related systems.
- Ability to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and roofs in different weather conditions.
- Ability to support a team environment and support customer needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
