RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Stationary Engineer for the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. The role involves operating, repairing, and maintaining gas and oil-fired boilers in a safe, efficient manner on the day shift.

Required NJ licensure (Black Seal) and a valid NJ driver’s license; preferred experience with industrial boilers is a plus. Compensation is hourly with full benefits and a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with on-the-job or formal training.
• A State of New Jersey Stationary Engineering Black Seal licensure is required; Blue Seal is listed as related.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NJ Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operates, repairs and maintains gas and oil-fired boilers and related equipment in the powerhouse.
• Monitor boiler room equipment, meters and gauges to ensure safe, regulated operation.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on boilers and associated components.
• Keep logs for each boiler and emergency generator with results and actions.
• Operate and maintain hospital main air conditioning system and the emergency generator.
• Adjust the environmental control system via computer data as needed.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.

Job Overview

The Stationary Engineer operates, repairs and maintains gas and oil-fired boilers and all associated equipment in the powerhouse in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School graduate or equivalent with on-the-job or formal training equivalent to a related program in an accredited vocational school
• A State of New Jersey Stationary Engineering Black Seal licensure is required., Blue Seal
• Must possess and maintain a valid NJ, State Drivers License

Preferred:

• At least 3 years experience on Industrial boilers

Scheduling Requirements

• Full-Time, Days

Essential Functions

• Performs all duties of the Stationary Engineers, such as but not limited to, observing Boiler Room equipment, meters and gauges to ensure that the operation is in accordance with the regulations and specific instructions
• Cleans and repair boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, regulate feed water and condensate pumps, lubricate equipment, perform work such as repack valves as needed, change piping, clean and paint in boiler room as needed
• Performs minor repairs such as replacing work gaskets, tightening joints, and replacing defective meters
• Keeps logs on each boiler and emergency generator, logging results, reactions, etc.
• Operates and maintains the hospital s main air conditioning system as well as the emergency generator
• Makes adjustments and changes to the computer controlled environmental system using data as needed
• Performs repairs of equipment and systems as well as monitor chemicals, filters and other supplies and order as needed
• Changes filters on a cycle in accordance with established preventative maintenance schedule
• Assures compliance with hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, compliance codes and requirements of accreditation as well as regulatory agencies
