Job summary

MEA Energy in Destin, FL is seeking an experienced Stationary Engineer to support facility operations at Eglin Air Force Base. The role focuses on safe and efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

You will perform daily inspections, support preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to service requests and emergencies, and ensure facility systems operate safely and reliably.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience operating, repairing, and maintaining commercial mechanical systems.
• 3+ years in healthcare facilities.
• Experience with hot water/steam boilers, chillers, and control systems.
• Florida Boiler Operator License or military journeyman qualification documented on DD214.
• EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification.
• Familiarity reading blueprints, specs, and BAS drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; knowledge of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, AHUs, heat exchangers, and related systems.
• Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Conduct daily facility tours and inspections.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies.
• Maintain accurate operating logs, maintenance records, and reports.
• Support subcontractors, service providers, and site personnel during maintenance and repair activities.
• Maintain accountability of tools and spare parts.
• Read and apply blueprints, specifications, BAS control drawings, and operating manuals.
• Safely use related hand and power tools.
• Work overtime or alternate shifts as required.

Position Overview

The Stationary Engineer will conduct daily inspections, support preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to service requests and emergencies, and ensure facility systems operate safely and reliably.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of field experience operating, repairing, and maintaining commercial mechanical systems
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare facilities
• Experience with hot water/steam boilers, chillers, and control systems
• Florida Boiler Operator License OR military journeyman-level 5+ qualification documented on DD214
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with complex mechanical systems and controls
• EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification
• Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and BAS control drawings
• Strong knowledge of safe work practices and maintenance procedures
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
