Job Overview

The Stationary Engineer operates and maintains systems providing heat, air conditioning, refrigeration, steam/high temp water, or electricity. Responsibilities include monitoring gauges, meters, and charts, adjusting controls for safe and efficient operation, recording system data, and maintaining equipment. The Engineer may also direct and coordinate activities of other workers.

Pay Rate: $44.54

Work Model: Onsite/In-Office

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and related systems.
• Conduct regular tours of equipment areas, reading meters and gauges, listening to machinery, and adjusting controls.
• Monitor system conditions and adjust controls to meet service demands.
• Diagnose and repair system malfunctions, replace or modify defective parts, and overhaul equipment as needed.
• Generate reports and logs of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
• Complete work activities accurately and timely.
• Provide emergency response for system issues.
• Perform stock inventories and prepare material requisitions.
• Operate company and customer vehicles and equipment safely.
• Support other operational tasks such as file maintenance and workspace cleanup.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Work overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• At least two years’ experience in stationary engineering with boilers and steam.
• Active Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer License or equivalent in good standing.
• Ability to demonstrate competency in job duties.
• Willingness to work different shifts.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Professional and courteous interaction with a variety of people.
• Mature judgment and ability to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
• Pass pre-hire background and drug screening.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
