Job summary

The Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division, seeks an experienced executive to lead the Tax Auditing and Compliance Division as TAC Director. You will direct statewide audit and collection programs, supervise program managers, and oversee the division budget to ensure compliance and revenue protection.

You will work with budget offices, CPAs, and policymakers to set goals, enforce personnel rules, and guide complex tax matters across Colorado. Residency in Colorado is required.

Qualifications

• Ten years of full-time executive management experience in tax administration, auditing, or regulatory compliance.
• Two years with State or Federal tax administration, public sector leadership, or regulatory compliance.
• Document experience in your application in detail; no assumptions.
• Candidates must meet minimum qualifications and provide thorough employment history.

Responsibilities

• Develop and direct all tax compliance and audit programs for uniform enforcement.
• Serve as Appointing Authority over hiring, performance plans, leave, and grievances.
• Manage and allocate state funds across division programs within budget limits.
• Provide executive guidance to managers leading teams of 12–100 employees.
• Establish division-wide goals aligned with revenue and compliance objectives.
• Oversee research on tax statutes and regulations to inform guidance.
• Represent the division at conferences, legislative meetings, and with taxpayers.
