Job summary

The Virginia Department of Veteran Services seeks a Suicide Prevention Coordinator to drive prevention initiatives, coordinate partnerships, and support statewide programs across Virginia.

The role requires planning, working with diverse stakeholders, and delivering training and facilitation to advance evidence-informed suicide prevention strategies. Travel and collaboration with SOS partners are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication, analytical and organizational skills.
• Act as a liaison between federal, state, and local behavioral health and suicide prevention partners to provide technical support and training.
• Thorough knowledge of suicide prevention, policy and service delivery issues from interagency perspectives.
• Ability to work with diverse behavioral health and suicide prevention stakeholders and partners.
• Strong training and meeting facilitation and consultation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate suicide prevention initiatives to reduce deaths and strengthen wellness across Virginia.
• Collaborate with community partners, agencies, healthcare providers, schools and coalitions to advance prevention strategies.
• Support statewide and community-based activities across the suicide prevention continuum (prevention, identification, intervention, postvention).
• Assist with state priorities and promote coordinated approaches addressing affected populations.
