Job summary

Washington State University seeks a Director for the Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to lead statewide initiatives and manage a multi-location network. The role emphasizes strategic direction, fiscal stewardship, and compliance with SBA requirements, funding partners, and university policies.

The Director will drive high-quality business advising, training, capital access, and technology commercialization efforts to boost small business growth, job creation, and retention

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or higher) and six years of progressively responsible experience, including at least three years of managerial experience.
• Experience delivering business development, management, or technical services to the public or small businesses.
• Experience preparing and managing budgets; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the statewide SBDC network and drive strategic direction and program performance.
• Oversee program development, outreach, and administration across multiple locations.
• Represent the SBDC network with partners, funders, and stakeholders; travel within Washington and nationally as needed.
