Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking an Engineering Manager for ITS Design within the Department of Transportation. You will lead a team of engineers and staff, directing statewide ITS design initiatives, including fiber, CCTV, DMS, RWIS, and vehicle detection systems.

This role emphasizes planning, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver on-time, high-quality transportation projects and public information systems like OKROADS.ORG and OKTRAFFIC.ORG.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering practices, principles and systems.
• Management principles and effective supervision.
• Budget planning, development and control.

Responsibilities

• Direct engineering activities of all or part of an agency’s responsibility; e.g., section, branch, division.
• Plan, organize and manage work of subordinate staff to ensure timely, quality results.
• Develop and conduct work programs within policy and budget constraints.
• Manage budgets for the assigned unit and ensure expenses align with the approved plan.
• Represent the department in contacts with the public and public officials, answering questions and resolving complaints.
• Oversee consultant contracts and provide technical oversight.
