Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development seeks a statewide highway safety expert to support SHSP, HSIP, LRSP and SRTPPP programs, leading data driven safety analyses and safety project management.

You will review Stage O studies, coordinate with agencies, and provide high-level guidance on safety countermeasures while training stakeholders statewide.

Applicants must hold a current Louisiana PE license with required experience, and excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Serves as highway safety expert for Stage O studies, data driven safety analysis, and safety project management.
• Reviews Stage O and highway safety studies to ensure proper safety analysis and implementation of countermeasures.
• Provides expert advice to Legal, Risk Management, and DoJ in defense preparations for lawsuits.
• Participates in training on driven safety analyses, complete streets, crash investigation and identification of high PSI locations for statewide dissemination.
• Interprets national standards and HSIP implementation for safety planning and programming.
• Manages contracts with consultants/universities for highway safety studies and ensures contractual compliance.
