Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections seeks a Security Manager II to lead statewide security and centralized transportation operations. You will oversee the movement of inmates among facilities, courts, medical providers, and other destinations, directing transport teams and coordinating policy implementation.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, mentor, and counsel staff while promoting accountability.
• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate large-scale operations involving personnel, vehicles, scheduling, and logistics.
• Knowledge of offender custody, transportation security, incident command, emergency operations, and radio communications.
• High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license; current DCJS certification.
• Experience supervising corrections or public safety personnel in dynamic environments.
• Knowledge of VADOC policies and inmate transportation operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of statewide security and transportation for Centralized Transportation Unit.
• Direct, coordinate, and evaluate transportation activities for safe, secure, and timely inmate movement.
• Support strategic planning, contingency plans, and policy development; liaise with stakeholders.
