Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking a State Structure Quality Engineer (Underfill Option) based in Salem. The role requires statewide travel to inspect bridges and structures, ensuring plans, specifications and materials meet standards.

Underfill options may apply for PE1 candidates with potential progression to PE2. Minimum qualifications include Oregon CE or SE licensure (or ability to obtain within six months) and three years of licensed experience.

Qualifications

• Possession of a CE license in Oregon requires or ability to obtain within six months.
• Possession of a SE license in Oregon requires or ability to obtain within six months.
• Three years of licensed experience in structural construction.
• Driving is an essential function with a valid U.S. driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Identify solutions and resolve problems on bridge and structure projects.
• Provide expert inspection instruction to inspectors and field staff.
• Visit project sites statewide to monitor construction and compliance with specs.
• Review structures for adherence to specifications and best practices.
• Develop and administer the Bridge Construction Inspector Training Program.
• Travel statewide; outdoor work >50% and exposure to heights and traffic.
• Collaborate with contractors and consultants to support communication and changes.
