Job summary

Gem City Nursing & Rehab in Ohio is seeking a State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA) to provide routine nursing care under supervision. You will assist residents with hygiene, mobility, and daily activities while following facility policies.

The successful candidate will hold a current STNA certification, have good English communication skills, and bring patience and empathy to a compassionate care team.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid STNA certification.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as ability to handle residents at their current maturity level.
• Tracheostomy care, ventilator care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare residents for therapy, activities, physician visits, and services, and transport to/from such activities.
• Answer residents’ call lights promptly.
• Attend in-service programs, on-the-job training and meetings as directed.
• Assist residents with proper hygiene and bathing as assigned.
• Follow infection control procedures and use isolation techniques when necessary.
• Chart required information every shift pertaining to the STNA role.
• Present a professional image through dress, behavior and speech.
• Adhere to company standards for resolving consumer concerns.
• Protect resident rights at all times.

STNA - State Tested Nurse Assitant

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As an STNA, you are responsible for providing routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses or Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have certification as a STNA
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
• Tracheostomy care, ventilator care experienced preferred.

GENERAL DUTIES

• STNA (STATE TESTED NURSE ASSISTANT) will p repare residents for therapy, activities, physician visits, religious services, etc., to include transporting residents to/from such activities.
• Answer residents’ call lights promptly.
• Attend in-service educational programs, on the job training programs and meetings as directed.
• Assist residents with proper hygiene
• Bathe residents as assigned and in accordance with established facility procedures (encourage showers and other self-help measures/activities).
• Follow infection control procedures in accordance with established facility policy when isolation techniques are necessary.
• Chart required information every shift pertaining to the role of the STNA.
• Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech.
• Adheres to Company Standards for resolving consumer concerns.
• Ensures that all consumer/resident rights are protected.
