West Virginia State Auditor’s Office in Charleston seeks a Payroll Tax Accounting Administrator to oversee state payroll tax processing and filings. The role focuses on reconciling quarterly and annual taxes, including Form 941 and state reciprocity filings, and handling W-2/W-2C processing.

Requires strong communication and detail-oriented skills, with ERP system experience. Candidate will work five days per week in the Charleston office.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented and organizational skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (HRM/Financial) preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting or equivalent preferred.

Responsabilités

• Process State of WV employees and retiree tax payments.
• Review and process departments’ tax transactions.
• Collaborate with departments to resolve tax issues.
• Prepare quarterly 941 filings with Schedule B.
• Prepare amended quarterly federal reconciliation and 941-X forms.
• Reconcile WV and reciprocal state tax payments per state rules.
• Prepare W-2s and annual federal processing; file W-2Cs as needed.
• Prepare CT-1 for State Railroad Retirement taxes.
• Coordinate with HRM ERP vendor on tax fixes and testing.
• Maintain system tax tables for federal, WV and reciprocal states.
• Analyze data to ensure proper tax collection.
• Coordinate with legal on changes in tax compliance.
• Train state departments on tax processing requirements.
