Job summary

Whitley Penn, one of the nation’s leading audit, tax, and advisory firms, is seeking a State & Local Tax Manager to join our team in a fully in-office role in Dallas, Plano, Austin, or Houston. The position requires a CPA and 5–7 years of state & local income/franchise tax experience, with leadership responsibilities and the ability to manage multiple engagements.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 5–7 years of state and local tax compliance and consulting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of state income/franchise tax laws and Texas guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide state & local income/franchise tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base.
• Manage state VDAs, state tax due diligence and tax audits.
• Advise clients on sourcing, nexus and accounting for state taxes; review state income tax returns.
• Develop, maintain, and manage client relationships; monitor engagement economics and staffing.
• Manage deadlines and engagement budgets; update Partners on status.
• Supervise and mentor associates and interns; develop staff.
