Job summary

PRA Group, Inc. seeks an experienced attorney to represent and defend the company in consumer account litigation and related matters across states.

You will prepare and file pleadings and discovery, guide the company’s attorneys, and manage a state-wide litigation team to ensure timely, compliant outcomes. The role requires a JD, CA bar admission (multi-state licenses preferred), 5+ years of relevant litigation experience, and strong written, verbal, and organizational skills to navigate complex

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Active CA bar admission; multi-state licenses preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of attorney experience in comparable work preferred.
• Experience managing a team of attorneys or workload of multiple attorneys.
• Litigation experience drafting pleadings and handling discovery and trials.
• Familiarity with FDCPA, FCRA, TILA, ECOA and related consumer credit laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Strong organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze multiple issues and provide sound business judgment.
• Ability to research and interpret statutes, case law and regulatory guidance.
• Ability to provide well-researched, accurate and practical legal advice.
• Ability to develop, improve and standardize procedures.

Responsibilities

• Litigates on behalf of the Company in state courts where licensed, using case management software.
• Represents the Company in courts, collects facts and evidence, tries cases and related tasks.
• Defends the Company and affiliates in court, minimizes risk from counterclaims.
• Trains new attorney hires and ensures familiarity with standard procedures.
• Monitors state legislation and notifies management of potential impacts.
• Maintains attorney workflows and templates across multiple states.
• Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Hires and trains new state attorneys.
• Identifies and tracks state litigation trends.
• Monitors attorney workload to meet department goals.
