Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is seeking a seasonal State Inspector to travel across the state and perform inspections for restaurants, hotels, vacation homes, and other lodging facilities.

Location flexibility includes Aberdeen, Pierre, Rapid City, or Sioux Falls, SD, with up to 40 hours per week and hourly pay between $19.50 and $22.61, depending on experience. This is a temporary, non-benefited position.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Driver License.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices is helpful.
• Ability to manage time, work independently, and create accurate reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections on behalf of the Department of Health at restaurants, hotels, vacation homes, and lodging facilities statewide.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is seeking a seasonal State Inspector, with flexibility in the position’s location. This position will conduct inspections on behalf of the Department of Health, including restaurant kitchens, hotels, vacation homes, and other lodging facilities throughout South Dakota. The role requires travel across the state to complete inspections.

Please note this is a temporary or seasonal, non-benefited position, exempt from civil service.
