Job summary

Legal Action of Wisconsin is seeking a Government Relations Manager/Director to build sustained relationships with Wisconsin policymakers and the public. The role focuses on securing state funding for civil legal aid, maintaining visibility at the Capitol, and educating policymakers about our impact.

The position requires in-person work most of the workweek and collaboration with the External Relations Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or substantial experience in legislative relations, public policy, or government affairs.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with lawmakers, staff, and executive-branch officials.
• Ability to communicate complex policy issues clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy to secure and expand state funding for civil legal aid.
• Develop year-round government-relations strategy beyond budget cycles.
• Maintain visibility with Wisconsin policymakers and staff across parties.
