Job summary

Grambling State University in Louisiana seeks a Paralegal to work alongside attorneys on complex state government matters, gaining exposure to litigation, public records, contracts, construction and procurement law, and property issues.

You will support multiple attorneys in the Office of General Counsel, handle document review, e-filing, and trial preparation while maintaining file rooms and archival processes. A background in paralegal studies or JD is required.

Qualifications

• ABA-approved Paralegal/Legal Assistant program OR CP certification OR JD.
• Disbarred attorneys or those who resigned to avoid discipline may not be hired in any law-related position.
• Official job specifications are provided by State Civil Service.

Responsibilities

• Supports matters in large, complex litigated cases involving state construction, procurement, and contracts.
• Summarizes legal documents and handles case management, pre-trial preparation, and e-filing.
• Drafts documents for signature and coordinates review with the Attorney General’s office.
• Maintains OGC file room and archival storage per Records Retention Schedule.
• Performs various duties for the Office of General Counsel as needed by the Executive Counsel.
• Collaborates with attorneys and legal staff across agencies when required.
