Job summary

Alliance Defending Freedom is seeking a State Government Relations Manager to advance our policy objectives in Texas and Oklahoma. You will build relationships with legislators and staff, coordinate advocacy strategies, and engage allies to support our positions.

This remote Texas role requires travel about 50% during legislative sessions, strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to navigate state processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, or related field.
• Ability to travel ~50% during legislative seasons.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and relationship development skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of state legislative and executive processes and procedures.
• Legislative advocacy skills with advanced communication abilities.
• Must reside in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and coordinate support for ADF positions on governmental policies and legislation.
• Promote and support strategies and approaches for effective advocacy.
• Travel regularly to meet with policy groups, legislative staff, and other stakeholders.
• Build and manage relationships with legislators and staff in Texas and Oklahoma.
• Track, research, analyze, and evaluate legislation and translate into plans of action.
• Assist in developing testimony, legislation, position papers, and reports.
• Encourage and facilitate relationships with policy allies and coalitions.
• Speak publicly to the media and before crowds as requested by management.
• Work collaboratively within the ADF team and with external allies.
