Job summary

Alliance Defending Freedom seeks a State Government Relations Manager to lead advocacy efforts with state legislators in Texas and Oklahoma. The role involves building relationships, analyzing bills, and coordinating outreach with allies to advance policy positions.

Travel about 50% during legislative seasons is expected. A Bachelor's degree in Political Science or related field is required along with strong communication and policy-skills for complex legislative environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in political science, public affairs, or related field.
• Ability to travel ~50% during legislative seasons.
• Strong written and oral communication for complex legislative environments.
• Knowledge of state legislative processes and procedures.
• Experience in legislative advocacy at the state level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and coordinate support for ADF positions on governmental policies and legislation.
• Promote strategies for effective advocacy across Texas and Oklahoma.
• Travel regularly to meet policymakers and stakeholders.
• Build and manage relationships with legislators and staff in TX and OK.
• Track and analyze legislation and translate into action plans.
• Assist in testifying, drafting legislation, and position papers.
• Cultivate coalitions and policy allies in the assigned region.
• Speak to media and public as needed by management.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external allies.
