Job summary

Pearson is seeking a senior leader to own the Career Ready state portfolio, driving strategy and revenue from state appropriations and funding mechanisms. You will supervise a team of state strategy and implementation managers, meeting with state education leadership and governors' offices to advance adoption of Pearson's Career Ready offerings.

This role partners with Government Affairs and cross-functional teams to align policy, budget priorities, and go-to-market plays.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of policy and commercial experience.
• Experience securing K-12 state funding (appropriations, grants, federal passthrough).
• Proven track record of closing state-level deals with revenue accountability.
• Strong relationships with state education officials, governors' offices, and appropriations leaders.
• Deep understanding of state education systems, funding pathways, and budget processes.
• Experience leading state sales or strategy teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with C-suite executives and state officials.
• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business, Education, Economics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of strategic states and carry a $20M+ quota for state funding.
• Meet with state education leadership and governors’ offices; negotiate contracts with Government Affairs.
• Analyze state trends, budgets, and legislation to identify funding opportunities.
• Develop integrated state strategy frameworks connecting priorities, funding, and commercial opportunities.
• Lead state certification placements and drive procurement success.
• Partner with Government Affairs to execute state-level curriculum and certification strategy.
• Support advocacy initiatives with Government Affairs to enable product adoption and funding flow.
• Lead and develop a team of state sales strategy and implementation managers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Government Affairs.
