AARP is seeking a State Director, New York to set the strategic vision and lead a team of staff and volunteers across the state. You will collaborate with internal units to deploy resources, drive advocacy initiatives, and strengthen relationships with elected officials and partners.

Qualifications

• BA degree required with extensive people management experience.
• Ability to manage advocacy, outreach, communications, and budget functions while unifying a team.
• Experience leading a geographically dispersed team and collaborating with internal/external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develops a state-specific strategic vision for New York.
• Directs advocacy strategies at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Manages relationships with elected officials and cross-functional partners.
• Oversees communications strategies to raise visibility with members and lawmakers.
• Leads community engagement and partnerships to achieve objectives.
• Manages state office budget and monitors risk and compliance.
• Leads volunteer programs and recruitment in the state.
