Job summary

The Delaware Department of Public Health seeks a physician with epidemiology expertise to serve as State Chief Medical Epidemiologist and oversee the DPH Epidemiology Section.

This role involves leading epidemiology experts across infectious diseases, environmental health, maternal child health, chronic diseases, and rural health, while directing statewide surveillance, investigation, and response activities.

Qualifications

• Delaware M.D. or D.O. license or eligibility to obtain within 6 months.
• Six months experience practicing medicine in hospital, clinic, or private practice.
• Six months experience in health or human services program administration.
• Demonstrated experience in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or large dataset management.
• Master's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead epidemiology experts across infectious diseases, environmental health, maternal-child health, and chronic diseases.
• Direct statewide surveillance, investigation, and response activities.
• Provide direct patient care via telemedicine or in-person visits.
• Oversee the DPH Epidemiology Section and coordinate program administration.
