MISTRAS is looking for dedicated State Carded RT Assistants local to the Midland, TX area for full-time positions.

$500 sign-on bonus offered for qualified candidates.

Position Summary

The Assistant Technician will assist the Level II NDE Technician with the designated NDT method activities while gaining experience and knowledge.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assist technicians with setting up and tearing down equipment
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, calibrations, and overall upkeep of equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with proper documentation and reports of services provided.
  • Learn and abide by company policies and procedures.
  • Assist as an Assistant Radiographer or Radiographer Trainee: operate radiographic equipment under direct visual watch and supervision of a radiographer or instructor.
  • Maintain constant surveillance and immediate control of industrial radiographic equipment while in use.
  • Secure industrial radiographic equipment from unauthorized removal when not tended.
  • Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas while equipment is in use.
  • Provide required notification to safety management in event of an incident.
  • Capable of being certified as trustworthy and reliable per NRC criteria.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State Card.
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and respond to short notice work assignments, including occasional out-of-town and overnight travel.
  • Strong communication skills with clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to read technical documents and engineering specifications (preferred).
  • Proven ability to follow precise directions and procedures.
  • Proven ability to adapt to an ever-changing schedule.
Essential Physical Functions & Working Conditions
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant environment.
  • Work in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required for personal protection.
  • May be required to travel to more than one job site daily and tolerate changes in climate.
  • May be required to travel out-of-town periodically.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Clear speech and hearing; adequate vision; manual dexterity for routine office duties.
  • Personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery/plant environment and access elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
