Job summary

North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management in Raleigh seeks a State Budget Management Analyst I or II to support budget development, monitoring, and analysis across agencies.

You will evaluate expenditures, propose solutions for budget shortfalls, and work independently with discretion while maintaining confidentiality. Hybrid schedule with onsite Tue–Thu in downtown Raleigh; remote on Mon/Fri optional. Competitive salary with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of public administration, budgeting, and program analysis.
• Ability to research, analyze, interpret data and make recommendations using Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of how state budgets and legislation are prepared and executed.
• Experience with statewide, capital, and university budgeting practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and guidance to agencies in budgeting responsibilities.
• Monitor and evaluate budget adjustment requests within the Budget Act and policies.
• Oversee agency budgets and expenditures to ensure a balanced budget.
• Analyze expenditures and revenues and propose solutions for budget shortfalls.
• Think critically to help leadership identify and solve problems.
• Work independently with discretion, integrity, and confidentiality while meeting tight deadlines.
