Job summary

Public Citizen seeks a strategic and organized self-starter to serve as AI Governance and Tech State Policy Advocate, collaborating with the Campaign Director to develop model state AI legislation and guardrails to protect the public from AI abuses.

The Advocate will track the evolving state AI policy landscape, build relationships with state lawmakers, coordinate messaging, draft language, and lead coalition efforts with partners across the political spectrum while advancing consumer

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in coalitions and networks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• State legislative advocacy: provide expertise on tech policy and draft/advocate legislation.
• Research AI and Big Tech policy issues and track developments.
• Draft reports and maintain legislative tracking resources.
• Coalition work and relationship-building with partner orgs and lawmakers.
• Media engagement and development of media strategies as needed.
