Job summary

Future of Life Institute (FLI) is expanding its US policy team in Washington DC to advance bipartisan AI governance. The US Policy Team collaborates with lawmakers, stakeholders, and the public to promote safe governance of AI and mitigate catastrophic risks.

Role involves direct engagement with federal policymakers, policy analysis, and development of informational materials. Rolling applications are welcome; based in DC with opportunities to influence national AI policy.

Qualifications

• Understanding of policymaking processes, including legislative procedures.
• Ability to communicate complex policy issues to non-experts.
• Direct experience working with or advocating to federal legislators and government officials.

Responsibilities

• Spend significant time engaging policymakers on AI safety governance.
• Develop and implement strategies for effective AI governance.
• Track and analyze developments in AI and emerging technology policy.
