Job summary

Southern Company Services is seeking a Startup Lead/Engineer to lead startup and commissioning activities for projects East/West New Generation, BESS, and gas initiatives. You will coordinate on-site startup management, site activities, and contract and cost management, reporting to the Startup manager.

The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical startup experience, ability to read diagrams, strong communication, and the capacity to manage safety and schedule within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industrial startup, construction, or capital projects.
• Electrical and mechanical startup knowledge with ability to read schematics and P&IDs.
• Ability to manage contracts, cost tracking, and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of safety rules and environment regulations.

Responsibilities

• Abide by safety rules and promote safety culture.
• Help establish inclusiveness and teamwork.
• Inspect installations for compliance with drawings and specs.
• Plan startup sequences to meet schedule and budget.
• Ensure quality requirements of plans and standards are met.
• Track startup activities against schedule and progress.
• Identify installation problems and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment and material delivery schedules.
• Assist site management in contract administration including reporting and invoicing.
