Job summary

Southern Company is seeking a Startup Lead / Engineer – Level 5-6 to coordinate day-to-day startup and commissioning for Technical Shared Services supporting Projects East/West New Generation, BESS, and Southern Company Gas. The role reports to the Startup manager and involves onsite startup management, site activities, contract and cost management.

The position requires heavy industrial startup experience with electrical/mechanical knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to navigate

Qualifications

• OSHA and environmental regulation knowledge.
• Startup/construct. standard practices and codes knowledge.
• Construction contracts, labor agreements familiarity.
• Interface with project teams, contractors, designers and vendors.
• Identify problems and provide resolution approaches.
• Strong verbal and written communication; adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

• Abide by safety rules and promote a safety-focused culture.
• Support inclusiveness and teamwork across the project.
• Inspect installations for drawings/spec compliance.
• Plan startup sequences to meet schedule and budget.
• Ensure adherence to quality requirements and standards.
• Monitor progress vs. schedule and manage deliveries.
• Assist in contract admin: reporting, invoicing, scheduling, change control.
