Job description

At Nox Group, we are dedicated to humanizing construction as one of the fastest-growing industrial enterprises in the US. Nox Group owns and operates Corbins, RMCI, Nox Innovations, and Construction Labels, and our teams set the standard as industry leaders. As we continue to expand our reach nationwide, we seek people who are passionate about personal growth and eager to make a positive impact throughout the industries and communities we serve. We prioritize our people, our partners, and our relationships. Start your journey today and join our skilled team.

Why RMCI
  • Lead commissioning on large, technically complex projects in the markets shaping the future of infrastructure.
  • Work inside a self-perform GC with direct access to the crafts, leaders, and decisions that determine project success.
  • Help build RMCI’s commissioning standards, tools, and talent bench as we continue to grow.
  • Join a people-first leadership team that values safety, collaboration, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the safe startup and commissioning of building and process systems, from factory witness testing and installation verification through energization, functional performance testing, and integrated systems testing. This includes equipment and system checkout, inspection for proper installation, review for correct design, and verification of expected system and equipment operating parameters under temporary startup conditions.
  • Leads the overall safety, quality, schedule, staffing, material control, and field-based procurement for the startup and commissioning process, including temporary power, load banks, test equipment, and specialty vendor/OEM services.
  • Plans, implements, and directs pre-commissioning testing programs and startup procedures, including development and execution of the Commissioning Plan, prefunctional checklists, test scripts, and energization and turnover procedures.
  • Partners with preconstruction and project teams from the earliest phases (CMAR and design-build) to define commissioning scope, sequence of operations, and turnover strategy, and to build commissioning requirements into schedules, budgets, and subcontract scopes.
  • Serves as the lead commissioning party where RMCI holds that scope, and as a coordinating partner to the Owner-appointed Commissioning Authority/Agent (CxA) where one is engaged, aligning the Owner, design team, Corbins and other trade partners, and equipment vendors/OEMs on test plans, roles, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria.
  • Leads energization readiness, verifying installation completeness and documentation (including terminations, torque, insulation resistance, and electrical acceptance testing) and coordinating utility and OEM participation before any system is energized, in accordance with Nox Group’s electrical safety requirements.
  • Plans and leads the execution of Level 4 functional performance testing and Level 5 integrated systems testing (including failure-mode, load bank, and black-start scenarios for critical power and cooling systems), as well as process performance and acceptance testing for water/wastewater, semiconductor, and industrial facilities, coordinating with the CxA where one is engaged to witness and verify results.
  • Coordinates integration and testing of controls and monitoring systems (BMS, EPMS, SCADA/PLC, and fire/life safety) to verify sequences of operation, alarms, and interlocks.
  • Reviews design documents, submittals, and design changes for commissionability and operational intent, and provides input to Engineering and the design team to support design change preparation.
  • Develops and maintains the startup/commissioning schedule and milestones in Primavera P6, integrating them into the project schedule and identifying sequencing, utility, and long-lead constraints early to protect the critical path to substantial completion and turnover.
  • Directs, develops, and coaches Commissioning Superintendents and startup/commissioning staff, including assigning and coordinating work, setting performance expectations, and building a bench of future commissioning leaders.
  • Plans commissioning staffing across projects, including resource allocation, onboarding, and rotational coverage, and partners with HR on recruiting.
  • Manages the issues and deficiency log through closure, driving timely resolution with trade partners and vendors and escalating risks to project leadership.
  • Manages commissioning documentation, test records, and turnover packages (O&M manuals, training, as-builts, and closeout) to support Owner acceptance, warranty, and certificate of occupancy or permit to operate.
  • Plans and coordinates Owner operations and maintenance training and the transition to operations.
  • Partners with HSE and Quality to ensure commissioning activities comply with LOTO/hazardous energy control, permit-to-work, and site-specific safety requirements, and builds quality verification into the commissioning process.
  • Develops and manages commissioning budgets and forecasts, including labor, vendor/OEM services, and rental equipment, and supports change and cost tracking.
  • Develops and continuously improves RMCI commissioning standards, templates, and lessons learned so best practices carry from project to project.
  • Serves as a technical resource and primary commissioning representative in client meetings, owner walkthroughs, and executive reviews.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of startup/commissioning experience on large, complex projects in mission critical, semiconductor, industrial, or water/wastewater construction, including experience leading teams through a full commissioning cycle from startup through turnover.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making, with strong technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills to drive practical solutions under schedule pressure.
  • Client-focused and collaborative, with a proven ability to build trust with owners, design teams, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with field crews, project teams, clients, and executive leadership.
  • Working knowledge of safe electrical, mechanical, and process equipment operation and controls, equipment protective systems and devices, LOTO/hazardous energy control procedures, and hazardous materials communication (HazCom).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with experience using commissioning and field-management platforms such as CxAlloy, Autodesk Forma, Procore, or Nexus.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6, with the ability to build, interpret, and update commissioning schedules and integrate them with the master project schedule.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on commissioning experience complex electrical and mechanical systems in at least one of our core markets: mission critical/data center (such as medium‑and‑low-voltage switchgear, UPS and battery systems, generators and paralleling controls, chillers, CRAH/CDU and liquid cooling, and BMS/EPMS), semiconductor, water/wastewater, or industrial process facilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, OSHA, ASHRAE Guideline 0, and NETA acceptance testing standards.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable Commissioning Superintendents and, through them, commissioning engineers, technicians, and vendor personnel.
