Job summary

ZEALANDIA HOLDING COMPANY is seeking a Part Time Starter/Player Assistant at Wachesaw Golf in Murrells Inlet, SC. The role directs the flow of traffic, enforces course rules, and guides players in etiquette while supporting tournament operations and course maintenance.

Position Summary

The Starter/Player Assistant will direct the flow of traffic, enforce course rules and regulations, instruct players in etiquette, assist in tournament operations, oversee the golf course grounds, and help players with on‑course issues. The Player Assistant will be an ambassador of goodwill on and off the golf course.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the pace of play.
  • Maintain established starting time intervals in coordination with the golf shop staff to ensure pace of play.
  • Enforce and implement the rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain daily records and prepare reports to the supervisor of all incidents, accidents and customer concerns.
  • Inform and educate golfing customers about pace of play, golf rules and golf etiquette.
  • Perform light golf maintenance duties such as filling divots, repairing ball marks, and trash removal.
  • Assist in tournament operations and act as an ambassador of goodwill on and off the golf course.
  • Request slower playing groups to speed up pace, if appropriate.
  • Escort unauthorized people from the course.
  • Ensure sand traps are raked.
Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Knowledge of the rules of golf; excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and professional demeanor; ability to be both firm and tactful in enforcing golf course policies; ability to make every customer feel more welcome than anywhere else.

Physical Requirements

Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching, and bending. Occasionally sitting and squatting/kneeling may be required. Lifting 10 to 20 pounds is frequent, and 21 to 50 pounds is occasional. Pushing or pulling 12 to 40 pounds is occasional.

Work Environment

Will work outside in varying weather conditions and must be appropriately dressed for duty. Constant standing and bending over will be required.
