Idaho Department of Health & Welfare seeks a Clinician/START Coordinator to deliver START services acrossRegions 3, 4, and 5 in Boise/Nampa/Twin Falls. You will apply START principles to reduce crises while coordinating with families, providers, and systems of care.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s in a direct clinical field and appropriate licensure (LMSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT). Travel between regions is required; limited telework may be possible after probation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver and coordinate START clinical services for an assigned caseload using the START model.
• Collaborate with clients, families, providers, and systems to strengthen supports and reduce crisis reliance.
• Develop and implement individualized crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
• Participate in rotational on-call coverage including crisis response and disposition planning.
• Complete START assessments, plans, and required documentation in accordance with fidelity standards.
• Enter client and program data into the START Information Reporting System (SIRS).
• Engage in ongoing training, supervision, and fidelity-driven practice improvement.
• Maintain knowledge of regional/state mental health and developmental disability resources and regulations.
• Provide educational and marketing presentations to families, providers, professional groups, and community partners.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and workgroups; provide backup coverage as needed.

We are seeking applicants for a Clinician/START Coordinator on our Developmental Disabilities Crisis Prevention and Court Services (CPCS) team. This position has the flexibility of being stationed out of our Downtown Boise, Nampa, or Twin Falls office, with coverage of regions 3 (Caldwell/Nampa), 4 (Boise) and 5(Twin Falls). This position requires travel between regions 3, 4, and 5 with possible overnight stays.

The Crisis Prevention and Court Services (CPCS) Team is an inter-disciplinary team certified in the nationally recognized START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment) Model which uses best practice standards established by the National Center for START Services® (NCSS). NCSS is an initiative that works to strengthen efficiencies and service outcomes for people with IDD and mental health needs in the community. It is a person-centered, solutions-focused approach that employs positive psychology and other evidence-based practices.

As a START Coordinator, you will deliver and coordinate START clinical services for an assigned caseload, applying the nationally recognized START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment) Model. In this role, you will collaborate with people enrolled, families, providers, and systems of care to strengthen supports, promote stability and well-being, prevent crises, and reduce reliance on emergency and inpatient services.

This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

• Participate in ongoing training, clinical supervision, and fidelity-driven practice improvement to support evidence-informed service delivery.
• Maintain current knowledge of regional and statewide mental health and developmental disability services, resources, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in department and community projects and provide educational and marketing presentations to families, providers, professional groups, government agencies, and other community partners.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and workgroups; complete assigned documentation; and provide backup and coverage for coworkers as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. A Master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study) in accordance with Idaho Codes: 54-3206, 54-3402, 54-3405, and 54-3214.

SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires licensure in a professional specialty in one of the following areas: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3206, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3405, Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3405. A valid driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet eligibility requirements to drive a state vehicle.
