Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Propulsion Engineer (Starship) to develop fluid systems for interplanetary vehicles. You will size, design, and analyze high-performance propulsion fluid components, drive build flow, and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities include system sizing, hardware concepts, CAD modeling, structural analysis, producibility improvements, and leading flight hardware builds with suppliers and the production team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics.
• 4+ years of mechanical or fluids design, analysis, or build experience.
• 4+ years of aerospace/mechanical engineering experience.
• 4+ years of GD&T experience.
• Experience with fluid dynamics, FEA, or related modeling.
• Experience with pressurized components (valves, regulators, tubes, pipes).
• Experience leading operation-critical part mechanical design, including structures and fluids calculations.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software packages.
• Experience with Siemens NX or other similar CAD package.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform fluids system sizing analysis to determine basic system requirements.
• Transform system requirements into hardware concepts and trade implementation and architecture options.
• Design a range of pressurized and unpressurized structures and parts with CAD models.
• Perform structural analysis of parts ensuring survivability.
• Execute design for manufacturability changes to enhance production efficiency.
• Drive first builds of flight hardware and establish a production line with manufacturing.
• Coordinate testing of flight hardware, development, qualification, and acceptance.
• Participate in design reviews with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Partner with engineering and production teams to generate ideas and improvements.
