Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Lead Hardware Reliability Engineer for Starshield to build and lead a reliability team across PCBA, battery, solar arrays and mechanical assemblies.

You will identify failures, drive data-driven improvements, mentor engineers, and collaborate with manufacturing, design, quality and supply chain to raise first-pass yield and ensure program reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, process engineering, materials science, or related field.
• 3+ years in hardware development, manufacturing process engineering, failure analysis, or reliability engineering.
• 1+ years leading a project, team, or people.

Responsibilities

• Lead and hire a hardware reliability team for Starshield production.
• Mentor engineers; drive root cause investigations of subassembly and process failures.
• Align goals with production and partner teams to achieve reliability and yield targets.
• Collaborate to craft career growth plans and build technical capabilities.
• Drive data-driven improvements to products and processes to raise first-pass yield.
• Lead containment for nonconforming hardware and coordinate disposition.
• Improve build instructions and production documentation to reduce defects.
• Lead PFMEA reviews with partners to identify risks and controls.
• Escalate major hardware/process concerns and secure resources.
