Job PurposeThis job ensures service standards are met and surpassed by creating the Starbucks Experience for customers by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment. Provides direction and leadership for the shift in the absence of the Food Services Manager.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership and direction in the absence of Director of Food Services.Capable of all opening and closing procedures.Adhere to all cash handling procedures.Deposit guidelines and necessary paperwork.Assist in ordering dairy, pasty and Starbucks suppliesHave formal training as a “learning couch.”Initiate any necessary refinement of “Barista Basics.”Ability to assist in scheduling staff for weekly shifts.Provide assistance in all café cleaning duties and facility maintenance such as ice machines, pastry case, espresso machine, water filtration system, freezer and refrigerator.Delivers Legendary Service to all customers by acting with a “customer comes first” attitude and connecting with the customer. Responds to customer needs and says thank you to every customer.Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent with three or more years of customer service experience and two years in a leadership role. Starbucks shift supervisors should have the ability to manage the work of others and learn quickly. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important in dealing with both customers and staff. The shift supervisor should have the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations. The ability to multitask is also important, as a supervisor will deal with a number of different things during a shift. Decision-making skills are important as well.
