Responsibilities include:

  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer inquiries, making suggestions about products.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to achieve company and store goals.
  • Prepare beverage selections according to recipes and standards, and to customer requests using proper equipment; process transactions following company best practices.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about; inform customers of coffee shop specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend coffee shop items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.
  • Use all equipment in the coffee shop according to company guidelines; prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate actions.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment such as espresso machines, blenders, computerized scales, and steamers.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
  • Report customer or employee accidents, safety risks, issues, or illegal activities to store management.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist through interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.16
