Rusco Mfg Inc in Machesney Park, IL is seeking an experienced Star Swiss CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to set up, operate, and monitor Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce precision-machined components to print specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Star CNC machines, tooling, offsets, machine adjustments, and in-process quality inspection.

• Must have experience setting up and operating Star Swiss CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining specifications.
• Experience performing first-piece and in-process inspections.

Star Swiss CNC Lathe Set-Up OperatorCompany: Rusco Mfg IncLocation: Machesney Park Il 61115Job Type: Full-TimeShift: 1stPay Range: $22 - $28 per hour, based on experienceJob SummaryRusco Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Star Swiss CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to set up, operate, and monitor Swiss-style CNC sliding-headstock lathes to produce precision-machined components to print specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Star CNC machines, tooling, offsets, machine adjustments, and in-process quality inspection.This position is ideal for a detail-oriented machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality parts, maintaining consistent production, and troubleshooting machining issues.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate Star Swiss-type CNC lathes for production runs.Install and adjust tooling, guide bushings, collets, and other machine components.Load programs and make appropriate tool offset adjustments.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks.Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, and other inspection tools.Monitor machine performance, part quality, and production output.Troubleshoot tooling wear, dimensional issues, and common machining problems.Replace worn tooling and make adjustments to maintain part quality.Maintain accurate production and inspection records.Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.Work with programming, engineering, and quality teams to resolve production issues.QualificationsPrevious experience setting up and operating Star Swiss CNC lathes.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining specifications.Knowledge of CNC tooling, offsets, feeds and speeds, and machining processes.Experience performing first-piece and in-process inspections.Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.Ability to work independently and meet production and quality requirements.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Star SR, SB, SV, or other Star Swiss-type machine series.Familiarity with Fanuc or other applicable CNC controls.Experience machining tight-tolerance, small-diameter, or complex precision components.Knowledge of bar feeders, tool life management, and production optimization.Experience working in an ISO-certified or regulated manufacturing environment.Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay based on experience.Overtime opportunities, as available.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and paid holidays.Retirement plan with company matchOpportunities for training, advancement, and skill development.Benefits are subject to company policy and eligibility requirements.Why Join Us?At Rusco Manufacturing, we value skilled machinists who take ownership of their work and consistently deliver quality results.
