Job Description Summary Standardized Patients (SPs) train to act out the part of a patient in specific clinical encounters in order to help medical students learn data gathering, humanistic characteristics and practice physical examinations. Standardized Patients are trained to portray physical findings and deliver medical information for given scenarios accurately and consistently. Standardized Patients are periodically used in lectures for demonstrations and in lab sessions as the students learn how to do a physical and osteopathic structural exam. Standardized Patients are trained in performance of their roles by Standardized Patient Coordinator. Standardized Patients are to report to the Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences.
