Job summary

Flex-N-Gate is seeking a skilled team member to assist in tooling and die development for automotive prototypes. The role covers tool setup, die spotting, tryouts, binder development, and die changes, with emphasis on quality and safety.

You will produce stampings, track quality metrics, and maintain a clean, orderly workspace while complying with policies. Candidates should have GD&T knowledge, blueprint reading, and the ability to operate grinders, cranes, drills, and hydraulic/mechanical

Qualifications

  • Familiar with automotive prototype die development, GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Able to operate grinders, cranes, drills and air tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in set-up soft and hard tooling in press.
  • Assist with spotting all dies and die changes as needed.
  • Assist in tryout of all dies and complete binder development.
  • Develop die, meet press show requirements, and perform die barbering as necessary.
  • Produce stampings and track QOS measures assigned.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow Peregrine policies and practices.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in set-up soft and hard tooling in press.
  • Assist with spotting all dies.
  • Assist in Tryout of all dies.
  • Blank Development.
  • Meet all requirements for Press Show.
  • Track and manage any QOS measures assigned.
  • Understand housekeeping requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Be safety conscious and understand all potential safety hazards in work environment.
  • Practice and promote safe work practices throughout the plant.
  • Promote team concepts and participate in teams.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
  • Understand the needs of internal/external customers.
  • Understand and follow Peregrine policies and practices and any other legal requirements.
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be able to interact appropriately with customers.
  • Must be an active participant in achieving and maintaining quality goals and continuous improvement activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Soft Tool Development Area Manager.

  • Must be able to operate most of the following pieces of machinery:
  • 90*, 5\", & 7\" Grinders
  • Crane
  • Drills, Air 7 Electric
  • Hydraulic Presses
  • Mechanical Presses
  • Shear
  • Spotting Press
  • Toggle Presses
  • Ability to learn and retain training.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Must be a self-motivator and be willing to take related courses.
  • Ability to analyze situations and provide possible solutions.
  • Possess basic computer skills and work with required software.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with others- either verbally or written.
  • Ability to apply technical experience and knowledge to unsupervised ongoing projects
