JOB DESCRIPTION:

Snyder Equipment has supplied quality products to the railroad industry since 1936. From our early days supplying water delivery systems to steam locomotives to constructing today’s sophisticated rail support equipment, we have developed extensive product lines dedicated to servicing locomotives in both freight and transit operations. Our offerings include fueling systems, wayside and service track equipment, onboard locomotive components, remanufacturing capabilities, rail-yard expansion/renovation projects, and custom fabrication work. Historically based in Nixa and Wheatland, Snyder Equipment is now in a beautiful 147,000 sq. ft. building in Springfield, MO. We are a proud affiliate of New York Air Brake, a member company of Knorr-Bremse.

Stainless Steel TIG Welder- 2nd shift (candidate will train on day shift for 1-2 months); $23-26 DOE

  • 1st shift hours: Mon - Fri 6 AM - 2:30 PM
  • 2nd shift hours: Mon - Fri 2 PM - 10:30 PM, + $1/hr shift differential

Position Title: Stainless Steel Welder/Fitter

Reports To: Production Manager

  • Layout, fitting, fabricating, and welding parts for assembly.
  • Use of diagrams, blueprints, or instructions to fit, tack and weld product.
  • Operation of other necessary fabrication equipment.
  • Identify serviceable vs. non-serviceable parts during the assembly process.
  • Follow procedural guidelines during the fitting/welding process.
  • Proper use of power and manual tools.
  • Proper use of calibrated gauges, power and manual torquing devices.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical capacity
  • Proven skills in TIG, MIG, & Pulse MIG in stainless
  • Proven skills in blueprint reading and layouts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted best practices and theory.
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of shop use of measuring devices.
  • Basic knowledge of quantitative methods.
  • Organization skills
  • Time management

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands:
The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Punch Press, Press Brake and other fabricating equipment setup and operation experience preferred
