Job summary

University of Texas at Austin seeks a Casual Worker - Stagehand to support Texas Athletics. The role involves setting up and tearing down for concerts and sports events, building and disassembling rigging, lights, audio and scenery, and maintaining equipment. Training and advancement opportunities are available based on experience.

Starting pay is $15 per hour with pay dependent on qualifications. This is a casual, on-site position with around 5 hours per week and a flexible schedule to support

Qualifications

  • Diploma or GED required.
  • Entry level experience in carpentry, electronics, construction or manual labor.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and follow instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge in concert stage rigging for high and ground riggers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the setup and tear down of concerts, men's and women's basketball and other events
  • Build and disassemble truss, hanging lights, audio arrays, running cable, scenic structures and laying deck
  • Maintain and repair stage equipment, including lighting, sound, projection, winch systems and curtains
  • Operate all stage equipment required for successful events and maintenance projects
  • Design, hang, focus and operate lighting; set up and operate sound, projection and comms equipment
  • Maintain inventory of expendables (lamps, filters, gaffers tape, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with University personnel
  • Perform other related duties as required
