• Interpreting the Script: Analyze the text, identify themes, and develop an artistic vision for the production.
• Casting: Conduct auditions and select actors to fill the roles in the play.
• Rehearsals: Lead rehearsals, provide guidance, and give notes to cast and crew.
• Collaborating with Designers: Work with set, costume, lighting, sound, and prop designers to align with the vision.
• Coordinating Technical Elements: Collaborate with the technical director, stage manager, and crew on stagecraft, lighting, and sound.
• Ensuring Cohesion: Oversee all creative elements to create a unified performance.
• Managing Conflicts and Problems: Resolve issues during rehearsals and adjust production as needed.
• Maintaining the Budget: Be involved in managing the production budget.
• General Schedule Commitment Needs: Attend/run/prepare materials for auditions and callbacks; plan, attend & run blocking and technical rehearsals; attend all production nights.
