Job summary

Proviso Math & Science Academy is seeking a Stage Band Director to supervise and promote a student music program. The sponsor serves as mentor and liaison, ensuring a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience aligned with district goals.

The role requires strong organizational, leadership, and collaborative skills, with a stipend detailed in the collective bargaining agreement. It is an extra-duty, non-tenure position reporting to athletics/activities leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Current Illinois professional educator license (PEL) or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision for all club activities, meetings, events, trips and practices, ensuring safety.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved and permission slips and transportation are arranged as required.
• As mandated, comply with training and reporting obligations under Illinois law and board policy.
• Define expectations and provide constructive feedback to support student development.
• Coordinate logistics and facilities to ensure well-organized and safe events.
• Promote student involvement and model positive interpersonal relationships.
