Job summary

Hale Centre Theatre is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to join our team in Utah. You will operate and maintain automated show elements and control systems across our venues, ensuring safe performances and smooth technical operations.

The role requires 2+ years in theatrical automation, rigging experience, and a degree in automation/theatre or related field. TAIT Navigator experience is a plus; flexibility for weekends and long hours is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of operational experience with theatrical automation systems (TAIT Navigator is a bonus).
• 2+ years of experience with large-scale theatrical productions.
• 1+ years working with rigging elements.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in automation, theatre or related field.
• Understanding of theatre production, technical and performance processes.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate automation console safely for performances, training, and maintenance.
• Complete pre-show checklists and required documentation.
• Report issues during performances in logs or reporting methods.
• Assist with maintenance and safety inspections on automation equipment.
• Assist with rigging tasks and show installations.
• Develop knowledge of Automation Department equipment; participate in trainings.
• Troubleshoot electrical, software, and mechanical problems.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
