The leading tech enthusiast website, Tom's Hardware has been publishing in-depth coverage of PCs, PC components and other hardcore hardware since 1996. We're a site for people who love computer technology and want to geek out about speeds, feeds and benchmarks. We offer practical tips, buying advice and in-depth news and features to help readers get deep inside their PCs.

Tom's Hardware is looking for a full-time writer to help us grow our class-leading coverage of core, do-it-yourself computing. You will involve writing news, reviews, comparisons and more of the latest technology, including computer cases, motherboards, SSDs, RAM, power supplies, network gear, and more. You'll be on the latest of computing, and you'll learn the ins and outs of SEO and modern media while bringing your content to a global audience.

Working with our managing editor, you will help shape coverage of this space, determining which products we cover, rating and reviewing them, and writing buying guides that help connect our audience with their next piece of gear. And you'll help grow coverage of network gear, including routers, switches, and more.

Coverage of components lies at the very heart of Tom's Hardware, so this role will require someone with solid technical knowledge. You are passionate about do-it-yourself computing and learning more about the latest, trillion-dollar world of computing. Whether you're a reviewer or a rising voice in the DIY computing space, this is your chance to shape the conversation around the components that power the world.

What You'll Do

You will report to the Managing Editor

  • Write and publish timely, high-quality content including news articles, product reviews, comparisons, and buying guides focused on PC components like motherboards, SSDs, RAM, and power supplies
  • Test hardware using standardized benchmarks and hands-on analysis to deliver accurate, insightful reviews that help readers make informed decisions
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to plan coverage, prioritize product reviews, and refine content strategy based on audience interest and industry trends
  • Stay current with industry developments by monitoring product launches, attending press briefings, and engaging with manufacturers and PR contacts
  • Optimize content for SEO and audience engagement, applying best practices in headline writing, formatting, and keyword usage to maximize reach and relevance
  • Contribute to long-form editorial projects, including buying guides and deep-dive explainers, helping readers understand complex technologies in a clear way

Experience That Will Put You Ahead Of The Curve

  • Clear writing skills with an engaging voice
  • 3+ years of experience with PC components and DIY computing culture
  • 3+ years of experience with product testing, benchmarking, or technical analysis
