Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help define the technical direction of the web development layer and build scalable foundations for product development. You will focus on data fetching within a hybrid GraphQL/REST environment, mentor engineers, shape platform investments, and drive patterns across teams to improve developer productivity and system reliability at scale.

This role includes equity and competitive compensation, with in-person collaboration 1–2 times per quarter

Qualifications

• 8+ years of web software engineering experience in large-scale web apps.
• Expert-level skills in JavaScript/TypeScript; Node.js and GraphQL experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive technical direction for foundational web capabilities (data fetching).
• Assess frameworks, tooling, and patterns to identify high-impact improvements.
• Lead platform investments to simplify development and improve consistency.
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural direction across teams.
• Contribute to a high-scale web platform serving millions of users.
