Job summary

Form Energy is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join the Systems Test team in Weirton, WV. You will design and deliver test equipment enabling critical tests across iron‑air battery systems and supporting hardware.

You will bridge heavy industrial power distribution, automated test equipment, and precision instrumentation, leading rugged, safe, and highly reliable assets for the Product Engineering organization. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years designing, building, and deploying physical test systems, automated test equipment (ATE), or industrial automation panels.
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, power electronics, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience, including tooling (crimping, soldering, etc), troubleshooting with scopes/meters, and general PCBA rework.
  • Deep working knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 79, and NEC/NFPA 70 electrical standards.
  • Professional experience using a modern electrical CAD package (EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical) for multi-page schematic design.
  • Proven track record of integrating programmable high-power DC systems, Beckhoff PLC hardware, and industrial DAQs.
  • Familiarity with BMS architecture, CAN/SPI/I2C protocols, and firmware test methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end electrical design of supporting test infrastructure (instrumented server racks, automated test equipment, power distribution panels, safety interlock subsystems) for validation profiles.
  • Architect and layout industrial control panels (Beckhoff PLCs, EtherCAT I/O, safety controllers) compliant with UL 508A and NFPA 79.
  • Integrate high-power DC programmable supplies, regenerative loads, and battery simulators for multi-pack testing.
  • Collaborate with Test and Product Engineering to translate system test cases into physical designs.
  • Implement isolated sensing and grounding to ensure noise-free instrumentation in HV/HCI environments.
  • Lead bring-up, debugging, and commissioning of test racks and panels in lab and factory.
  • Facilitate commissioning and bring-up of pack and multi-pack test assets.
