Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager based in the United States.

This is a senior technical program leadership opportunity focused on driving complex, strategic initiatives across multiple engineering teams and organizations. You will translate business and technical goals into clear execution plans, bringing structure to ambiguity and ensuring alignment across stakeholders. Working closely with engineering leaders, architects, and product partners, you will manage dependencies, risks, milestones, and critical decisions. Your technical fluency and independent judgment will help teams navigate complexity and deliver meaningful outcomes. Beyond individual programs, you will improve governance, operating models, and practices that strengthen execution at scale. This role offers broad organizational influence, strategic ownership, and the opportunity to mentor others while shaping technical program management excellence.

Accountabilities
  • Lead strategic technical programs: Own complex initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams, organizations, technologies, and geographies, with accountability for end-to-end delivery and outcomes.
  • Develop integrated program plans: Build roadmaps connecting technical requirements, architecture, dependencies, milestones, resources, risks, and decision points.
  • Understand technical systems: Develop sufficient knowledge of system architecture and constraints to identify cross-system impacts, challenge assumptions, and improve planning and decision-making.
  • Partner with technical leadership: Collaborate with engineering leaders, architects, product partners, and other stakeholders to translate objectives into execution strategies and resolve complex issues.
  • Manage dependencies and risks: Anticipate cross-team and organizational dependencies, surface tradeoffs early, and drive decisions before issues become delivery blockers.
  • Provide program visibility: Establish program health metrics and communicate progress, risks, scope, and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
  • Support strategic decisions: Advise senior leaders using technical context, program data, and organizational knowledge to shape recommendations and execution strategy.
  • Apply sound program judgment: Select and adapt methodologies, governance structures, and operating models based on the needs of each initiative rather than applying processes mechanically.
  • Solve complex organizational problems: Identify root causes and patterns across teams and technologies, balancing technical, business, schedule, and resource considerations.
  • Clarify requirements and tradeoffs: Connect business objectives with technical realities, long-term implications, and customer or organizational value.
  • Communicate executive-level recommendations: Develop clear narratives that explain options, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions required from leadership.
  • Improve program operating models: Design and refine governance, planning cadences, OKRs, KPIs, and decision mechanisms to improve execution across teams.
  • Simplify and standardize processes: Identify unnecessary friction, improve existing practices, and lead standardization or organizational change initiatives while maintaining accountability.
  • Drive adoption and measurable improvements: Engage stakeholders in implementing new ways of working and evaluate their impact on organizational effectiveness.
  • Mentor and develop others: Coach TPMs and cross-functional partners, share reusable practices, and strengthen program management capabilities across the organization.
Requirements
  • Professional experience: At least eight years of relevant technical program or project management experience, including ownership of complex software or technology initiatives across multiple teams or organizations.
  • Technical fluency: Strong understanding of software systems, platforms, architecture, integrations, and engineering practices; ability to ask informed technical questions and translate complexity into program decisions.
  • End-to-end program leadership: Proven ability to lead large strategic programs from problem definition and planning through execution, delivery, and measurable outcomes.
  • Independent judgment: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated effectiveness in ambiguous environments where the path forward is not predefined.
  • Program execution expertise: Experience managing dependencies, technical risks, roadmaps, milestones, requirements, decision points, and delivery tradeoffs throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder influence: Ability to influence senior technical and business leaders, build alignment across competing priorities, and drive decisions without direct authority.
  • Governance and operating models: Experience designing or improving program governance, planning cadences, metrics, operating models, or scalable ways of working.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to create concise executive narratives while retaining technical depth for engineering audiences.
  • Mentorship: Experience mentoring, coaching, or improving the effectiveness of TPMs and cross-functional partners through knowledge sharing and reusable practices.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous hands‑on experience in software engineering, systems engineering, QA, architecture, or another technical discipline.
  • Experience with platform engineering, infrastructure, developer tooling, cloud, distributed systems, or other complex engineering environments.
  • Background in standardization, transformation, or organizational change across technical teams.
  • Experience in the games or interactive entertainment industry.
Benefits
  • Annual base salary: USD $206,800-$310,200, with individual compensation determined by job-related factors such as skills, experience, and location.
  • Equity or bonus: Bonus eligibility may be available; equity was not specified in the source description.
  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings: Matching 401(k) plan.
  • Paid time off: Paid time off.
  • Wellness: Employee wellness program.
  • Employee discounts: Discounts on company products.
  • Additional benefits: Eligibility for a top-tier benefits package.
