International Business Machines Corporation is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to lead Cloud, Network & Automation within Corporate IT. You will set architecture standards for cloud environments, access control, IaC pipelines, and automation platforms that power IBM colleagues.

Qualifications

• Staff-level technical leadership with 10+ years in systems, cloud, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, and GCP with large-scale cleanup experience.
• IaC and GitOps expertise using Terraform and pipelines.
• Experience with VPN, ZTNA, SASE and zero-trust architectures.
• Automation design using Python, Go, or shell and orchestration behind CI/CD.
• Secrets management and workload identity federation (Vault and related tools).
• Production-grade Kubernetes (GKE) operations and observability focus.
• Ability to influence cross-functional initiatives and communicate tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Define technical direction for cloud footprint, guardrails, and cost hygiene.
• Own reference patterns for infrastructure change and drift detection.
• Architect secure remote access and zero-trust networking across environments.
• Set standards for automation platforms, throughput, and security.
• Define patterns for secrets management and workload identity.
• Own operational patterns for DNS, load balancers, TLS, and logging.
• Set administration standards for GitHub Enterprise and VDI security.
• Drive security posture, incident management, and compliance evidence.
