Job summary

Radiant is seeking a Staff Structures Engineer in El Segundo, CA to design and develop critical reactor structures for Kaleidos. You will perform thermomechanical analyses, manage BOMs, and coordinate subsystems with cross-functional teams.

The role requires hands-on design, manufacturing support, and strong communication. Onsite work and extended hours may be needed to meet program milestones at Radiant's El Segundo HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Structural Engineering required.
• 7+ years of experience designing structures.
• 5+ years of experience performing stress analysis using hand calculations and FEM tools.

Responsibilities

• Own critical structures such as mass-efficient transportable shielding systems, container system, and high temperature graphite and metallic systems.
• Conduct trade studies and develop designs to meet program requirements.
• Perform detailed thermomechanical analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue) and dynamic analysis (vibration, shock).
• Develop and execute manufacturing/assembly instructions and test plans.
• Create and manage a Bill-Of-Materials (BOM).
• Find and develop suppliers for components.
• Own subassembly design, manufacturing, and test schedules.
• Own risk analysis (FMEA) for subsystems.
• Collect requirements and provide feedback to engineers.
